James Mane | Stand-Up Comedian From Hawaii

James Mane is a stand-up comedian and podcast host born in American Samoa and raised in Aiea, Hawaii. A proud AAPI performer, his comedy blends sharp cultural observations with fearless storytelling about growing up in the islands and life in modern Hawaii.

Mane was featured in Forbes as one of “12 Rising AAPI Stand-Up Comedians To Watch.” He also made history as the first Samoan comedian to perform a featured stand-up set on North American television when he appeared on FNX’s First Nations Comedy Experience, which aired across the United States and Canada and is now streaming on Amazon Prime.

He co-starred in the Adult Swim hit series Decker, where he played the character Lanoi Arnold, the unofficial king of Hawaii.

Early in his career, Hawaii comedy legend Andy Bumatai praised Mane’s first stand-up performance as one of the best debut sets he had ever seen. Mane later toured with Bumatai and co-hosted The Daily Pidgin podcast with him.

Mane also helped pioneer comedy podcasting in Hawaii as a co-creator of the Guys With Issues podcast, one of the first comedy podcasts in the state in 2012, producing more than 100 audio episodes.

He has shared stages with Dave Chappelle, Bert Kreischer, Ronny Chieng, Patton Oswalt, Wanda Sykes, and Amy Schumer, and has performed at some of the most respected comedy venues in the country including the World Famous Comedy Store in Hollywood, The Dirty at 12:30 and LA Comedy Club in Las Vegas, Helium Comedy Club in Portland, The Function Comedy Club in San Francisco, and Blue Note Hawaii.

Mane has also headlined Nate Jackson’s Super Funny Comedy Club in Tacoma and has sold out shows at Blue Note Hawaii as well as a headline show at The Function Comedy Club in downtown San Francisco.

He was a featured performer at the Maui Comedy Festival and has also performed at The Lion’s Den in San Francisco’s Chinatown. Mane continues to perform at comedy clubs and theaters across the mainland United States and Hawaii.
